A downloadable Maven Saga Origin for Windows

Inspired by classic RPGs of the SNES era
a new saga begins (briefly!)

Introduction

Once, long ago, The Great Calamity ravaged the worldand the Divine Goddess ushered in a new world.
In this world there are four magic fonts of power, each created by the Goddess.

On frosty Bayle, the Fire Shrine contains the Fire Elemental, guarded by the hardy people of Handal.

In the forests of Lechamp, the Earth Shrine and the Earth Elemental, protected by the Council of Joan.

Hidden within the canyons of Tsunisa, The Water Shrine and the Water Elemental, seized by the Sunisan Empire led by the boisterous Emperor Bugle.

And finally, on the westernmost continent of Oxyn with its fields of green, in the lands ruled by the benevolent Queen Yves... the game begins!

About
Hello! I have years of writing and music experience and decided to make a silly little RPG as a prelude to my primary project. My original scope was much larger, though real life got in the way. I hope you enjoy the story I've crafted here. This is my very first published RPG Maker project and I decided to use the retro RPG Maker 2000.

With this small project I definitely learned some lessons with and plan to apply them to bigger, less constrained projects in the future (and hopefully with more custom assets!)

This game was made for RPG Maker Themed Game Jam #8: Emperor's Tyranny!
I plan on participating in future game jams at my leisure. This was a lot of fun.

Be on the lookout for Maven Saga in the future! It is currently in development.

I played a little of your game (~30 mins or so) and it was good fun.

I think the strengths of this game are the world building and the interesting characters. You did a decent job on those and don't worry about using the rtp, I always find that it holds up well if used creatively and you made some interesting maps with it.

I was impressed with how smooth the cutscenes played out. I sometimes struggle with this myself so it's good to see it done well.

As you pointed out yourself, I think the main issue is the balancing, although tbf I did get lost in a cave I wasn't supposed to and my levels skyrocketed in there I was gaining a level every two fights or so LOL but good times anyway.

Thank you for checking it out! I tried my best to make the maps interesting. I'm not great at making art assets but it's something on my list to either learn more of or outsource. Thank you for the feedback and I'll take it into consideration for future projects!

Thanks for checking this out! Hopefully I did everything correctly.
There's a few known issues with the game but I'd love some constructive feedback. I'd greatly appreciate kind and constructive comments instead of hate, thank you.

I know the balancing is crazy and that is a lesson I have learned for the future!
